Bose Music Institute
Traditions are vulnerable to the passage of time and can
become a part of history if not nurtured for posterity. Hindustani classical
music, was sustained over generations by royal patronage. The gradual
disappearance of this form of support led to a dilution of musical traditions
and values.
Pt. Ram Krishna Bose tried to bring classical music within the reach
of the middle class intelligentsia, in a systematic way, by introducing
music education institution. When he came in Udaipur, at the very first
sight, he liked the Lake
City very much and wanted to settle in this picturesque small town
of Rajasthan. In order to contribute to music, after years of dedication
and drive, he established the prestigious Bose Musical Institute in
1993 with the objective of preserving and promoting Hindustani Classical
Music. The Institute is known to the musical community of India. This
institute is recognized by almost all the leading musical boards in
the country today which conducts regular concerts, Lec-dems, examinations,
seminars and workshops. The institute housed in a 3,600 Sq. ft. area
is the most reputed in Udaipur which proves the relentless devotion
and interest of Pt. Bose as an individual.
He wishes to develop music education on the pattern of Vishwa Bharati.
He provides hostel facilities for foreign Students. He has played a
major role to revive and nurture rich heritage of Hindustani Classical
Music through the institute. He enshrines the principles that nurture
the past to build the future. More importantly, it embodies the underlying
philosophy and spirit of this art form.
Regular courses of music therapy is being conducted in ‘Bose Music
Institute’. The Institute has provided the security and the comforts
of a home and the opportunity for a brighter future to both the gurus
and the scholars. It has achieved this through the implementation of
its objectives based on a training system that is essentially the Guru-Shishya
Parampara with suitable contemporary fine-tuning.
The Guru-Shishya Parampara is the very soul of the oral tradition of
India, and embodies the living and learning relationship between master
and pupil. Evolving from the era of the great Indian seers, what the
tradition signifies is the complete emotional, intellectual and spiritual
surrender of the ardent shishya to the guru.
The basic objectives of Bose Music Institute
are:
Promotion
of excellence and the preservation of India’s rich cultural heritage
Creation
of an effective training system.
To rationalise
traditional data with the help of modern research methods and technology
Promotion
and propagation of music.
To take
high quality music systematically to areas and sections of the population
who otherwise do not enjoy access to it.
To cater
to specialised audience needs and create connoisseurs of music by changing
the conventional conference mould and creating new thematic profiles.
To commemorate
those veterans and doyens of classical music whose 'pursuit of music
as a form of knowledge has enabled us to establish and perpetuate a
community of shared values
