Pandit Ram Krishna Bose :
Achievements
He is an accredited B-High grade artist of all India Radio New Delhi and
has also performed for television. He has also presented public performances
in Mumbai, Kolkata, Shantiniketan, Lucknow, Agra, Mathura, Jaipur, Jodhpur,
Delhi, Ahmedabad, Indore, Cochin, Patna, Chennai, Baroda etc. and charmed
the audience everywhere. Looking to his contribution to the world of music
'Sur Singar Sansad', Mumbai honoured him with the title ‘Talmani’
in 1987 and ‘Surmani’ in 1990. He has also been
felicitated by All India Radio, New Delhi and Raj Mahotsova Rajsamand which
gave him the title ‘Pandit’.
Mr. Bose chose Udaipur as his place of work has been working here since 1993.
He believes that Indian classical music can be used to serve the society
an immense way by virtue of its utility in meditation and treatment of anxiety.
As said before, confluence of strigned melody and percussion sound in a single
person is very rare these days especially in the time when specialization
is becoming the order of the day. When he plays Tabla, his 'baaz' clearly
says he belongs to 'Farukhabad' as well as 'Benaras Gharana'.
While he accompanies on 'Tabla', he really compliments the artist (be it
vocal or instrumental) without competing with the artist. This is called
'Saath-Sangat' which needs deep understanding of the artist, his emotions
as well as his music which is rare today. He could manifest this as he has
learnt both, the nuances of Tabla as well as Sitar, Santoor and vocal simultaneously.
When he plays a critical instrument like 'Santoor', his dexterous fingers
touch the chords gently to bring notes with perfect tonal quality which leaves
the audience spell bound. Very pleasant tone, eleborate 'alap' and 'barhat',
'Laykari' and fast 'Taans' are his characteristic style of redition.
Due to innovative technical aptitude, Shri Bose has improvised his Santoor
for better tonal quality and altogether for a different concept which can
be seen when one gets an opportunity to listen to his performance.
It would be interesting to know that he has blended the qualities of Persian-Santoor
with that of Kashmiri-Santoor and Sitar to produce tonal quality in his instrument.
Pdt. Jasraj, Rajan-Sajan and Pdt. Ajay Chakraborty his favourite singers.
Pt. Sapan Chowdhury and Pt. Anindo Chatterjee are his ideals in Tabla Playing.
Pdt. Shivkumar Sharma, the famous Santoor maestro is his spiritual idol.
Mr. Bose has succeeded is maintaining a balance between his devotion to art
and worldly needs and there is no doubt that his contribute to music will
bring him laurels.
He hopes to realize his dreams through the organization that he has set up
‘Bose Music Institute.’
